“ The journeys I create have all the health benefits of meditation, but with the added benefits of engaging with your energy body, unpacking your stories, and empowering your sense of self.”
Philosophy
I pair the framework of Non-Violent Communication with various somatic techniques to teach you how to unblock unhealthy narratives, find safety in your body, unlock your self worth—and ultimately connect with your own intuition and deep inner knowing.
My philosophy is rooted in neuroscience and mindfulness research and I lean heavily into the teachings of Non-Violent Communication, or NVC. I subscribe to the ethos that empathy and compassion are necessary to raise self worth, which is the antidote to suffering, and that our feelings are neither good nor bad, no matter how painful they may feel—they are simply our psyche’s way of telling us when we are out of balance.
I lead from a spiritual perspective, but always look for ways to ground it in research and data.
The offerings I share here do not replace medical advice. They are simply meant to supplement you on your path to embracing your wholeness, your inherent goodness, and ultimately: your sense of worthiness.
Me, Killian
I am a journeyer.
I was born in Singapore before moving to Tokyo, Portland (OR), Chicago, Boston, and finally Los Angeles, where I’ve lived for the past decade. The exposure I received to so many different places at an early age gave me a unique world view that I carry with me into my work both as a writer and practitioner.
I have always been struck by how incredibly similar we all are, regardless of the environments we grew up in or the way we look. It reminds me that the human experience is just that: human. And because of that, the tools we use to grow and support ourselves can and should be shared—integrative wellness benefits us all.
This is why I’m so driven to share what I’ve learned. Conscious connection to my authentic self, my sense of wholeness, my worth, and my purpose in this world gave me relief from anxiety, depression, and fear. The tools that helped me get to this place of inner peace and groundedness are too valuable to hoard for myself.
The tools I’ve found most helpful are somatic in nature, meaning they deal with our felt-sensations. Our felt-sensations trigger various brain patterns, so in order to reprogram our patterns, it’s most helpful to first access our feeling space. Nowhere is this more palpable than when we’re in a meditative state. This is why I started creating meditative journeys—first for myself, and then for the world. Each journey is designed to help you carve out new neural pathways (new narratives) that stick.
WHY I CREATED ‘FNR’
I want to normalize self-growth.
The cultural narrative that used to plague the path to wellness was, “therapy is a sign of weakness.”
Today that stigma has shifted, but the roots remain. To ask for help on your path toward inner truth is seen as a nod toward some kind of internal brokenness. “I can’t and therefore I seek someone else to teach me.”
It feels radical to acknowledge that you need more than what you’ve been taught to give yourself.
But that’s just the thing: you’ve been taught. We all have. Nobody comes into this world fully capable of everything.
Give yourself permission to grow.
The sooner you accept that the act of learning is a human right, the sooner you embrace the freedom that something as simple as permission (to learn, to grow, to enjoy) can bring.
I want to normalize the tools used for healing.
Another cultural narrative that blocks people from healing: “the tools used for growth are radical.”
At first this was simply because they were unfamiliar. But there is a large segment of the wellness community that has latched onto this image of itself and continues to perpetuate it.
Add to that: ‘wellness’ has embraced capitalism—and as such, mainstream consumers. This is great! But it also means that in order to create continuous demand, there’s a near constant search for the ‘next best thing’ that will ‘cure’ us from our misery even ‘better’ or ‘faster’ than before. And sometimes those ‘new’ tools are purposefully pitched as offbeat, or ‘woo-woo.’
As consumers we’ve learned to chase the hype. When one method becomes trendy, it falls out of favor as though tainted by popular knowledge. In some ways ‘radical’ has become part of the draw.
But what is wellness, really? Is it about chasing the high of a novelty, in constant search of a newer, stranger holy grail? Or is it about seeking freedom from our old wounds, limiting beliefs, and destructive behaviors?
I believe it’s the latter.
When you focus on that, the box your tools are packaged in doesn’t matter so much—progress does.
I want to prove wellness is for everyone.
Wellness isn’t solely for people on the fringe. It’s not just for taste-makers, or the wealthy, or the woo-woo. You shouldn’t feel pressure to be ‘unconventional’ just because you want to connect to yourself better. Wellness should be accessible to ALL.
This site is about doing the work that sets you free. It’s not here to make you feel ‘woo-woo’ because you like tarot cards and incense, but it’s also not here to make you feel less-than for only subscribing to the data-driven tools that science can support. (I am a big advocate of spiritual methodology AND the science that supports it).
This site is for everyone. Because embracing your worthiness shouldn’t make you feel like an outsider.
You deserve to feel free, not radical.
Are you ready to feel free?
Free from the negative self-talk, the unhelpful narratives, the pressure to “be” a certain way?
Then journey with me. And check out the other tools I have to offer on my resources page.
