imagine being hunted by a lion.
(Don’t worry, that’s not one of the journeys).
But for right now, imagine it: if you were being hunted by a lion, which part of your body would tell you to run first?
It’s not your brain. It’s your heart-rate—a clenching in your chest or throat, the adrenaline that pumps through your veins.
Before you think any thoughts, your nervous system engages. And when your nervous system engages, it lights up your feeling space. You feel something.
So, in essence, it’s your feeling space that triggers your rational brain to think “run,” not the other way around.
Our felt experience happens so rapidly, we often think our brains beat it to the punch. We’ve built systems around “rationalizing” our problems away. It doesn’t work.
The way you think is contingent on the way you feel. So if you’re looking to change the way you think, you need to explore how new ways of thinking can feel in the body. You need to associate feeling with thought.
Journeying in a meditative state allows your somatic self + subconscious self to create new neural pathways (new ways of thinking) that stick.
Your brain is putty in the hands of your felt sensations. Try the RISE journeys to experience this phenomenon more fully.
